What is KINTO Share?
KINTO Share is a car-sharing service that offers fuel efficient vehicles to rent on an hourly or weekly basis. Rideshare and delivery drivers can use our vehicles when driving for approved service providers. Drivers have the option of hourly or weekly rentals.
We also have a personal use hourly program when you need to rent a car to run errands or drive around town.
How does KINTO Share compare to other carshare rental options?
KINTO Share is the most flexible vehicle carshare solution on the market. Unlike other options, you decide how long to keep the car and only pay for the time rented. No daily or weekly minimums. Insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, and maintenance are all included in the price of your rental. There are no membership fees or long term commitment. Also, because we work with high-quality, reputable dealers and other operators, you can count on receiving a high-quality, reliable vehicle that your passengers will appreciate.
What kinds of vehicles are available to drive?
KINTO Share features a variety of high-quality Toyota vehicles for our customers to drive, all of which are certified for Lyft, UberX, and delivery services. All of the vehicles are regularly cleaned and maintained to factory standards by certified dealerships. When you make a reservation, you’ll be able to see the classes of vehicles available in your area.
For weekly rentals we offer an exclusive hybrid fleet.
What if you don't have vehicles near me?
If we don’t have vehicles that you can get to at the moment, please check back! We expect to grow quickly over the coming months. We recommend you go through the initial signup process and submit your zip code so that we can keep you informed (we won’t ask you for any payment information).

home page and please let us know where you’d like us to add vehicles.
How do I get keys to the vehicles?
All you need to use KINTO Share is your smartphone and the KINTO Share app. Just walk up to the car and activate your reservation with your smartphone to get going. Using the app, you can make reservations and unlock or lock your vehicle...all without having to pick up a key.
We support most iOS and Android devices.
Do I have to pay for my reservations in advance?
Making a reservation is easy and free, and if you cancel the reservation at least 24 hours before your reservation’s scheduled start you won’t pay anything. When you make a reservation, you will be charged for the full amount of the rental.
How much does KINTO Share cost?
KINTO Share is designed to be affordable. For our hourly programs we charge a flat rate of $5.50/hour (plus tax) for a well-equipped, reliable vehicle. For our weekly program the introductory rate is $215/week (plus tax) and includes an all hybrid fleet.
All programs include unlimited mileage! Also, insurance, maintenance, 24/7 roadside assistance and 24/7 customer support.
Are there any hidden costs?
As long as you drive safely, lawfully, abide by the
terms of service and return the car clean, re-fueled, and on-time, you’ll be good.
When you reserve a car, you will be charged the full amount of the rental plus tax.
As a car-sharing service, the vehicle needs to be ready for the next customer, so we do assess fees for poor community behavior, such as late or dirty returns, or traffic citations that we have to process. You can see a full list of fees in our Terms.
How much can I expect to pay for KINTO Share?
With our weekly program you will be charged $215/week plus tax and with our hourly program the rate is $5.50/hour plus tax. Total amount will be charged at time of reservations.
Can I pay for KINTO Share directly from my rideshare or delivery earnings?
At this time we only accept a valid payment card for KINTO Share.
Can I deduct the cost of KINTO Share from my taxes?
As an independent contractor, many of your business expenses, including KINTO Share, may be tax deductible! Please contact a tax professional for more information.
What kind of insurance am I covered by?
At a minimum, all KINTO Share vehicles are covered by liability insurance, which covers damages up to $300,000 to other vehicles, property and parties in the event of an at-fault accident. This insurance does not cover the cost of your own medical expenses in the event of an accident – to ensure you are covered in the event of this situation, please consult your personal medical policy and/or personal auto insurance policy.
In instances where you are operating the vehicle illegally (suspended license, under the influence, etc.), in a manner not allowed by the
Terms of Service, or with negligence, you will bear the full cost of damage to KINTO Share vehicles as well as any damage to third parties not covered by the vehicle’s insurance policy.
If you are involved in an incident with a vehicle, a damage fee of up to $1,000 may apply.
In cases of theft or loss, a Driver may be held responsible for the entire cost of recovery or replacement. Drivers are not responsible for normal wear and tear on the vehicle. For more details, please see the Terms of Service.
Do I need to bring a cell phone holder or charging cables?
All KINTO Share vehicles are equipped with a cell phone holder to keep your phone visible and hands-free.
Although there are USB ports in most of our vehicles, we
highly recommend that you use the circular 12V power outlet to charge your phone. Charging via USB ports will not supply enough power to effectively charge your phone.
You should bring your own charging cables or AUX cables to keep your phone charged and the music going.
Rideshare and navigation apps can be a huge drain on your battery, so we
highly recommend bringing a charging cable with a 12V adapter.
How do I get started?
All you need to get started is to begin the application process
here. If you decide to join KINTO Share, and plan to use the vehicle for rideshare or delivery services you'll be asked to authorize a background check and pay a non-refundable $25 application fee that goes to the cost of that check. From there, just show that you are approved to drive on a rideshare or delivery platform, and we'll take care of the rest.
Once you're approved, we'll grant you access to vehicles in your area and you'll be ready to earn!
There is no background check for personal use rentals.
What are the qualifications for becoming a member?
In order to become a member, KINTO Share requires you:
1. Are at least 21 years old
2. Are registered to drive on Uber, Lyft, Postmates, or DoorDash. (if using the vehicle to drive for these services, not applicable for personal use)
3. Have held a driver license for at least 1 year, two or more if under 25 years of age.
4. Have been licensed to drive in the state where you are applying for at least 1 year.
5. Meet the following driving record requirements for the purpose of renting vehicles for personal use, rideshare services, or delivery services:
- No major traffic violations in the past 3 years
- No more than two of the following in the past 3 years:
i) moving violations; ii) distracted driving violations; iii) accidents
- No more than three vehicle-related violations in the past 3 years
- No DUI or drug-related violations in the past 7 years
If utilizing the vehicle for rideshare and delivery services you must also meet the requirements of a Criminal background check:
- No felonies, violent crimes, sex-related, theft, or property damage offenses

How long does it take for an application to be approved?
We want to get you onto the road as quickly as possible. As long as you submit your rideshare or delivery approval documents on time, your application time will most likely depend on the time it takes to get your background check cleared.
This can take as little as 1-2 days, but in some cases takes 3-5 business days. We’ll be sure to keep you updated throughout the process, and will notify you as soon as you’re cleared to drive.
What if my application is taking longer than expected?
Some common issues we've seen that can delay the application process are:
1. Applicants have lived in a county that does not have an automated background check process.
2. Applicants have lived in more than one county over the past few years.
3. Applicants' rideshare or delivery application has stalled.
4. Applicants have omitted the documentation requested at the Confirmation stage of the KINTO Share registration process.
5. Applicants have not yet confirmed their email address or mobile phone number.
If your KINTO Share application is taking longer than expected, please check the status of your rideshare or delivery application, make sure you have submitted the documents and complete the verifications requested by KINTO Share. Also, please feel free to contact us with any questions.
What happens to my application fee if I don't pass my background check?
Your application fee is used to pay the cost of the background check, so unfortunately there are no refunds for application fees. We recommend that if you don’t meet the motor vehicle and background check requirements at this time, then don’t submit payment or authorize a background check.
Does KINTO Share store my credit card information or social security number?
No, KINTO Share does not store any personal credit card or social security information, and we work with PCI-compliant partners to ensure that your information is transmitted securely.
How do I use a referral code that someone gave me?
When you get started on your KINTO Share registration, you will see a field that asks for you to enter an invitation code if you have one. Please enter your referral code there and we'll be able to track it on our end.
